Don't Be A No-Reply Blogger

If you have no idea what a noreply-blogger is, then this post is for you! If you do, then there is a chance that this is for you, just take a few moments to check, won't you?!

If you comment a lot on others' blogs but never get an answer, then there is a VERY good chance this applies to you.

What is a no-reply blogger?
A no-reply blogger is someone who comments on a blog post and who the blog owner cannot then reply to via email because their email address is not visible.

I like to reply to every single comment I get (or well I try to), just so you know that I heard you and that I appreciate the 30 seconds you took to leave me a comment. But when I encounter a no-reply blogger, that makes me sad. It looks like so:

Most of the time I will hunt down the person and let them know. That means clicking through their profile and seeing if they have a blog of their own, finding their contact information there or leaving a comment to a post. When they don't have a blog there is nothing I can do :(

Until now, I always referred them to someone else's post. But after 3 of such bloggers in a row today, I decided it might be time to make my own post to refer to.

How do I know if I am a no-reply blogger?
Well, it's easier to see if you are NOT a no-reply blogger. Let me show you.

If you go to your profile from your dashboard (I'm aware some of you might still have the old dashboard, I think it should be very similar...)

The little icon on the top-right of the dashboard is where you need to go.

Click it so you see the Blogger profile link...

and then click that, too.

The clickable email link under the Contact Me section confirms that you are NOT a no-reply blogger. If you DO NOT see this, then you ARE a no-reply blogger.

Now, apparently there is a new way of having a Google+ profile instead of a blogger profile. If this is the case for you and what I am showing you here is NOT what YOU are seeing, then check out this post, hopefully that will help you out ;) Alright, moving on.

How do I change my settings for other's to be able to contact me?
From your blogger profile, you click Edit profile...

and you simply need to check the show my email address.

Once that is done, scroll down so you can save your new setting!

And that's all there is to it! If you still want to confirm, then simply reply to this post, including your email address, and I will confirm it for you :)

I won't be the only one pleased to see I can now contact you :)

I'll keep this "advertisement" at the bottom of my blog if ever you need it.

Thanks for reading!

I party at these parties. If you would like to invite me to your linky party, please do so on my linkies page, thank you!

  2. I was a no-reply blogger until someone told me and I changed it. I've often wondered how to reply to someone without putting the reply on my blog. Now I know. Thanks!

  3. So I know why I set that to no reply when I first started! I was worried about spam email! After I encountered your other post about hot linking and a couple of other blogs where I saw the blogger directly reply to readers on their comments section I became more interested in the community/ building an audience part of blogging and now I put my email up so thank you. I'm getting a lot of "buy this medication" and "you won the British lottery" spam email but I'm also getting emails from fellow bloggers and that is AWESOME! This is exactly why I started- I wanted to make friends and learn stuff. :)
You know what I really wish I could do? I wish Blogger allowed me to reply to a reader on my comments box and have that reader send them an email- that would be BOSS. Oh well. Thanks again!

  14. That's great. I just discovered people don't get notifications when I reply on their comments. What a bummer :/ At least this might make it a bit more interactive. So, thank you!

I'm so happy you're taking the time to leave me a message! Just make sure you're not a No-Reply Blogger (if you want to check, there's a link to instructions at the bottom of the blog), and if you're entering your Name/URL make sure I have a way of finding an email somewhere on your website, or just include it in your comment :)
